Losing the persistent chat history of a renamed HCL Sametime 12 user - how to fix it

If you rename a user and they log into Sametime, they will not see the persistent chat history. This is not a bug and the loss is not permanent. You need to run the database tool to synchronize the data properly. The Sametime 12 documentation describes everything. Here is a simple description of how to perform this process.

If you are running Sametime V11 or earlier and want to upgrade to Sametime 12, you have two options. They start from scratch with a clean install (sometimes it’s worth it) or migrate existing Sametime to the new Sametime 12. I have prepared a short guide on how to migrate the contact list (vpuserinfo.nsf) of your users and I have also added the option to convert from native Domino Directory to LDAP, which is a condition for migration to Sametime 12.

After two years again of face-to-face conferences. A great venue in Bruges (Belgium), 3 days of filled program with a great sessions, over 300 participants, 24km at my feet during the conference including transfers to the hotel (according to Apple Watch), two amazing evenings with fellow HCL Ambassadors and other speakers. Great food and especially beer, the number of types and the amount I drank I prefer not to count. Just a great event again.

Domino Auto Update Task (AUT) problem with language versions

With several other Domino admins and customers, I consulted problem with upgrading the Notes client V12.x using AUT (Domino Auto Update Task). The English version worked correctly, but in our case the Czech version did not work. Everything was configured correctly, but the upgrade itself failed to start. After consulting with HCL Support, the workaround is relatively simple.

Each of us has to deal with maintenance, especially “compact” system databases such as log.nsf, admin4.nsf, events4.nsf, ddm.nsf and so on. Yes, just turn off the Domino server and take the compact offline. Depending on the size of the databases, server downtime increases. However, there is an option to minimize server downtime. Since of Domino 9.0.x, there is a compact with these parameters

HCL Traveler has ended supporting HTTP (without SSL)

With today’s update (November 15) HCL Verse for Android, HCL Traveler Companion for iOS and HCL ToDo for iOS has ended HTTP configuration support and only HTTPs are no longer supported. This applies from these versions: HCL Verse pro Android (12.0.5) HCL Companion pro iOS (12.0.2) HCL To Do pro iOS (12.0.2)

I recently worked on one integration of Sametime V 11.6 with iNotes and Verse (2.2.0). I configured everything as usual, but I still couldn’t get Sametime up and running with iNotes and Verse. I received a request to resolve the following issue. After upgrading the Notes client from 9.0.1 to 11.0.1 on a Windows 10 laptop and the recommended display of 125% (Scale and layout), the Notes client and all applications were a bit blurry. The same problem can be reproduced when set to 150%
