Ideas from the #domino2025 Forum

By Chris Toohey | 1/19/18 12:07 PM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Oliver Busse

I took the recent opportunity to submit a few ideas to the #domino2025 "App Dev - How would you like to see Domino Application Development evolve (and why)?" Ideation forum. First, good on IBM/et al for putting this together. After reading some of the submissions ("layers"... really?!), I'm hoping that the good ideas get in front of the right people. For those curious, here's a quick recap of what I submitted

IBM Think is fast approaching in March (19-22) in Las Vegas. I enjoyed the larger scale and scope of InterConnect and this is going to be even bigger so here we go….

IBM Champion and the Domino Jam

By Sharon James | 1/19/18 10:50 AM | Business - Social Business | Added by Oliver Busse

Friday the 12th of January was a busy day for me .. Off to London for the face to face #Domino2025 Jam. I was slightly dubious, not really knowing what to expect but what a worth while experience it was. Approx 35 – 40 of us slip up into teams discussing and prioritising what we would like to see for IBM Domino App dev, mail, apps support and sametime for version 10 and beyond.

By Paul Withers | 1/19/18 9:22 AM | Community - Events / People | Added by John Oldenburger

Two months from today IBM Think will officially start, although the IBM Champion day on March 18th will be my first – and no doubt very busy – involvement. And the great news is that I will be delivering two sessions that week. Developing with Watson Work Services Java SDK (Session ID 3249).

By Thomas Hampel | 1/18/18 9:32 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by John Oldenburger

Maybe you noticed but with Notes 9.0.1 FP9 you can (finally) run mail rules on existing messages. You can use mail rules to run actions on mail already in mail folders. This feature existis within the FP9 mail template and is hidden by default. To use it, your administrator must upgrade your mail file to the Feature Pack 9 template.

#Domino2025 Jam - Think Big

By Paul Withers | 1/17/18 6:12 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by John Oldenburger

It’s great to see the amount of activity in the #Domino2025 Jam forum. But just a few thoughts from my point of view on the vision area. Just to add some meat on the bones there, asking IBM / HCL to reinvent the wheel and build something third-party vendors already doa nd something which doesn’t bring new customers in.

Hapi-Joi error handling with custom messages

By Csaba Kiss | 1/17/18 2:33 AM | App Dev - Open Source | Added by John Oldenburger

Recently, I have ventured into the world of nodejs. Coming from XPage development, the learning curve is quite steep. I looked at several back-end frameworks express, feathersjs and Strongloop’s loopback among others. They are all fine frameworks, but the one I fell in love with was hapijs.

This has not been widely discussed yet. But since SSL Labs will start reporting it with a rating of F beginning of February let me explain some background and what you could do. The issue has been there in a similar way before and is back. Affected are the older ciphers that are not widely used by current browsers/client.

How to prevent ROBOT (Return Of Bleichenbacher’s Oracle Threat) on Domino servers

By Darren Duke | 1/16/18 1:07 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by John Oldenburger

Last month, in December 2017 a new (well old, but new) vulnerability was discovered in TLS, the ROBOT attack (Return Of Bleichenbacher's Oracle Threat) and yes, your Domino servers are probably susceptible to it. To avoid re-posting everything from that article go read it them come back.

{blink}So THAT’S the future{blink}

By Gabriella Davis | 1/15/18 9:51 AM | Business - Social Business | Added by Oliver Busse

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve posted here. The end of last year was a juggle of many different pieces of work and learning new technologies but more on that later. I did however take my eye off the ICS (IBM Collaboration Solutions) ball waiting for the HCL deal to firm up and find out more what was going on.

Scheduling XPages / OSGi Plugin Code - Part One

By Paul Withers | 1/11/18 8:57 AM | App Dev - XPages | Added by John Oldenburger

Before Christmas I blogged a teaser about running Xots tasks scheduled. Various demos have been constructed and a video will be coming, but I decided to blog about the components I would recommend to a customer. This is very much a modular approach with a lot of BYO components. But therein lies its strength, in my opinion.

Node-RED – Part 4: Understanding the Node-RED Editor

By John Jardin | 1/10/18 2:28 AM | App Dev - Cloud | Added by John Oldenburger

Welcome to part 4 of my Up and Running with Node-RED video series. In Part 3 I showed you how to setup a Node-RED runtime on one’s local machine. In this video tutorial, I explain the Node-RED editor in detail, providing you with everything you need to know to make the most of designing simple/advanced flows in your browser.

Major rewrite of Domino JNA for improved performance, now with incremental indexing of Domino data

By Karsten Lehmann | 1/8/18 6:48 AM | App Dev - XPages | Added by John Oldenburger

I spend a few days during the Christmas holidays and first week of January to work on our Domino JNA project. The result is version 0.9.11, which is now on its way to Maven Central and available for download as an OSGi plugin for XPages developers. Here are the three main features that I have been working on.

Changing the Connections Admin user in a CCM enabled Connections installation

By Nico Meisenzahl | 1/7/18 9:25 AM | Infrastructure - Connections | Added by Oliver Busse

While migrating a Connections environment side-by-side I had the challenge to also change the connectionsAdmin and filenetAdmin alias user. In this blog post, I will describe the necessary steps to successfully switch the admin alias to another user. This post will be focused on the Filenet/CCM part. Doing those changes without side-by-side migration will need some more steps which I will not describe in this post.

2018 an important year for IBM

By Ben Langhinrichs | 1/2/18 4:56 PM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Oliver Busse

I am no expert, so these are my impressions from a slew of outside conversations and insights (right or wrong) gleaned at conferences and on Twitter and Medium. But with those caveats, I think this is going to be a very important year for IBM, as they start to regain profitability and reach the decisive stages of various technologies they have bet on or invested in. These are on no particular order.

My First Jam – Application Design and Modernization for IBM Notes and Domino

By Peter Presnell | 12/21/17 4:46 PM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Oliver Busse

I had the chance to participate in my first Domino Jam 2025 event this week. Due to travel commitments, I had to settle for a virtual jam rather than the face-to-face sessions conducted in North America the previous week. Red Pill Now has just started its own Webinar series in application modernization so I knew it was going be a challenge for IBM to mirror the interaction possible in the face-to-face jams. But at least it provided a way for the hundreds that attended to be part of the process.
