Last week I had the opportunity to speak at the MWLUG event in Atlanta. It was a very well-run event and a great opportunity to catch up with some friends and colleagues. Unfortunately, I was slotted in a Friday morning time up against some very popular topics.

About three months ago, my role within the IBM organization morphed from being focused on driving social business adoption internally, to an IT leadership role where I now also own the responsibility to deploy the social business platform. In our case, we are well underway with a major initiative to move all of IBM's email to IBM Verse.

IBM ConnectED 2015 recap and recollection

By Ed Brill | 2/4/15 8:24 AM | Business - Events / People | Added by Johnny Oldenburger

I just returned from my 19th IBM-related January trip to Orlando in the last 20 years. Was this trip to IBM ConnectED 2015 the last one? I don't know. I'm no longer in the product organization connected to the event; this year, now that I report to the IBM CIO office, I was more client than vendor. It was nice to have my brand everywhere. During the week, I delivered an updated version of my IBM Social Business Transformation presentation.

IBM Worklight...with a B2E application center

By Ed Brill | 3/7/13 9:55 PM | - | Added by Cn=Bruce Elgort/O=Notesoss

Two weeks ago we launched IBM MobileFirst -- a set of six solution portfolios unifying IBM's market-leading mobile enterprise story. One of the portfolios is an application platform, and the centerpiece of that is IBM Worklight. In my first month with the team, what I've learned is that Worklight addresses the need for reusability in mobile apps better than any other approach. While we offer many ways to deliver mobile web applications, Worklight is designed for web, hybrid, and native apps, across the entire spectrum of mobile devices.

Opting In, a month in

By Ed Brill | 3/3/13 5:17 PM | - | Added by Cn=Bruce Elgort/O=Notesoss

OK technically it has been about six weeks since the book really shipped, but a month since launch at IBM Connect 2013. Close enough either way. My first book, Opting In: Lessons in Social Business has already hit many of my personal goals. Just having a book in print checked it off the bucket list. Some of the more memorable moments since publication have included making various Amazon "hot seller" and bestseller lists, the book signing at IBM Connect, and presenting a session about the book with Marcia Conner. We tried to have a book release party here in Chicago, but it turned out to be the then-snowiest night of the year. Still it was wonderful that 20+ friends and family showed up; for the other 30-40 of you who couldn't make it, I think a spring barbecue will be in order.

It has been noticed that I didn't have the opportunity to blog anything yet from IBM Connect 2013. The conference has been going great and there is a ton of activity. My Twitter followers have certainly seen many updates from the conference, but I haven't had a chance to put any real thoughts together in writing.

SmartCloud for Social Business: Trust and Security

By Ed Brill | 1/15/13 12:09 AM | - | Added by Niklas Heidloff

One of the most common lines of questioning for IBM's SmartCloud for Social Business is, how secure is the service and in turn, my data? In an effort to address that question, the SC4SB website now features a library page focused on trust and security.

By Ed Brill | 1/13/13 5:29 PM | - | Added by Cn=Bruce Elgort/O=Notesoss

With IBM Connect 2013 only two weeks away, I have been spending a lot of time staring at the session grid. One impression that struck me as I surveyed the grid was this: there are a lot of Domino XPages and mobile sessions on the agenda.

Maybe we could do this kind of survey at IBM Connect 2013

By Ed Brill | 12/10/12 12:10 AM | - | Added by Niklas Heidloff

For the last couple of weeks, my inbox has been flooded with copies of an email that salesforce.com sent to IBM customers depicting how one organization moved their Domino applications to force.com and supposedly benefitted from the move. I rarely comment on the specifics of such examples, as there often is a lot of missing data -- what version of Notes, what kind of apps, etc.

Endorsements for "Opting In: Lessons in Social Business"

By Ed Brill | 12/8/12 11:43 AM | - | Added by Cn=Bruce Elgort/O=Notesoss

This might be the last blog post on the topic of the book prior to its release! Earlier this week, I finished up edits on the "proof" copy of Opting In: Lessons in Social Business from a Fortune 500 Product Manager. One final look coming on December 17, and then it's off to print/ebook production. Availability date is on track for just before IBM Connect 2013. Answering an FAQ: Yes, I will be doing a couple of signing sessions for the book during Connect. I also will be doing a session on the topic of "Opting In: Social Business to get Smarter Work Done" at the conference, an interactive discussion with Marcia Conner, who also wrote the book's foreword.

The client access license is included in the Domino Enterprise Client Access license along with the IBM Lotus Communications CEO bundle.
